Feel

I know how often we hear these feel good cliched snatch phrases… Stay positive, be happy, try till you succeed. But you know what? It’s not that simple. We don’t have a button in our head that lets us just switch our mood to whatever we want. Life is hard, and it has too many challenges. Ignoring that won’t make it go away. Being happy won’t solve the problem. We need to appreciate the darker emotions of the human mood spectrum as well. And lets be real here for a second, do we really need to try to be positive all of the time? Sure, a positive upbeat mentality does help deal with stress and pressure, but that does in no way mean, that we need to be little balls of sunshine every second of the day.

Sadness, anger, jealousy, rage… they are all as much natural human emotions as happiness, peacefulness, love… So why do we shun the “negative” emotions so callously? Honestly, I don’t believe in positive or negative emotions. Emotions are just emotions, each one as necessary to us as the other. Since nobody else seems to do it, here I am saying, that it’s okay to feel weak, to feel small, to feel sad or angry or mad. We needn’t beat ourselves up, over feeling what we do. The good and bad are parts of each other, inseparable for all eternity. So why can’t we embrace the dark as well as the light? Shadows and light go hand in hand.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe in moping around over everything that goes wrong. All I’m saying is that, just as it is important to be able to see the bright side of things, it is essential to appreciate the dark as well. Let yourself grieve and be human… feel happy, sad, angry, calm and wonderful! Fall in love, get your heart broken, fall in love again and break someone’s heart. Celebrate success, and experience failure. Let yourself be human. It’s an extraordinary world out there, full of things that can make us laugh and cry. So lets laugh and cry at the wonders that we encounter.
